I was just flipping through Mary Macdonald's book Interiors: The Allure of Style and these two glamorous rooms caught my eye. When I looked closer I realized the two key elements these rooms had in common. They both featured stunning mirrors hung on chains and silver paper (on the ceiling in one and all over in the other). Not to mention stunning crystal chandeliers. This could be my new "go-to" combination for over the top glamorous spaces.

In general, I am not a gal that loves industrial design, as it can come across rather cold and utilitairan. The one room where I find the industrial look to not only appealing but functional is the kitchen. I would happily replicate these open shelves, windows, tolix chairs, lights and this table (umm...amazing) any day and any time!

It is festive while still allowing the kitchen to remain a functioning space through the holidays.

There are so many sources that I look to for inspiration and lately there is just something about a beautiful hardcover book full of glossy images that I cannot resist. Which is why I picked up a copy of Celerie Kemble's newest book, Black and White and a Bit in Between. The first thing I do when I purchase a new book is flip through the pages just to get a taste of the inspiration that is in store. Occasionally there are books where no single image stands out to me on the first flip. Well, this was absolutely not the case when I flipped through Celerie's book. Well, after a lot of packing tape, calls to UPS and bubble wrap, the dogs and I have officially arrived back in Chicago! I am still settling in but I am so excited for the adventures, inspiration and opportunities that the future holds. Also, I have sold most of my furniture and look forward to sharing my progress in rebuilding and recollecting my space for living. These simple and clean interiors made me very excited for this fresh start...

Having just moved into a new place I am getting this feeling that I have to fill every single empty space and fall sin to over decorating. Thankfully I came across this show stopping home designed by Chloe Warner that made me feel better about leaving walls without huge mirrors or pieces of art and not filling up empty spaces for the sake of it. Simple balanced style is best and allows style defining pieces, such as a fabulous wallpaper, an exotic light fixture or a standout piece of furniture to be the star.

This bathroom is pure bliss--from the brilliant bath side bar cart, gilded clawfoot tub legs and the iron work in the window. That is definitely a tub that I would soak in with a glass of wine even on the hottest day of the summer.

unframed mirrors

One of the first purchases I am planning to make for my new (smaller) apartment are mirrors, as they are always a great way to open up and lighten up a space. I have many framed mirrors but I really want to purchase unframed mirrors and arrange them on the wall and have them serve as a focal point. I love the floor to ceiling placement of these....

but am also drawn to the random but central placement of these...

Alright, alright I know I have been a horrible blogger this week but I have just been going non-stop (in a good way!) and didn't have a single second to sit down at my home computer. I hope that the colors, patterns and styling of this incredible home will make up for it!

One beautiful minimalist coffee table can be lovely in the right room but make it two and the look is just divine. Although different sizes (which I love) these coffee tables make a lovely focal point to this simple and contemporary room. However. I think they would be even more dazzling layered over a bold patterned rug.

I loved Chris Barrett's bungalow in the latest issue of House Beautiful and instantly headed online to peruse her portfolio. I don't typically focus on designer's commercial spaces but was delighted by the inspiration found in this sushi restaurant. The restaurant was inspired by the pink cherry blossoms of Kyoto and designed to cater to guests eyes and palettes.

I am particularly fond of the random pattern and elegance of the walls, seating choices, wallpapered ceiling and mix and textile choices.
All of these elements would translate perfectly in to a residential space.
